WHAT IS MICROBLADING? (Q&A)

What is Microblading? As popular as it may be on social media, I still get asked that question a lot. Here is a list of the most frequently asked Q & A’s for Microblading!

Q: What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent form of cosmetic tattooing. Microblading uses a blade-shaped tool with a row of tiny, barely visible needles to create hair-like strokes along your brows while depositing pigment into your skin. The result? Realistic-looking brow hairs that don’t wash off for a year or more!

Q: How long does Microblading last?

Microblading can last 1-2 years. The results vary on the persons skin type, daily exposure to sun, as well as other factors.

Q: What is a good/bad candidate for Microblading?

I get asked in my consultations if the amount of hair they have effects their candidacy, yet it doesn’t. Skin type and the persons lifestyle are very important factors when determining if the client is a good candidate or not. Certain skin conditions like rosacea, cystic acne, aged skin, or certain other skin conditions are not good candidates. Once again the amount of hair a person has does not determine candidacy.

Q: Does it hurt?

You will feel a slight pain (similar to the feeling of threading) in the beginning but we continue to numb as we go. Pain level depends on the persons pain tolerance and ability to absorb the numbing cream.

Q: How do you determine the best shape/color for my face?

The thing is we are able to pull off many shapes! But the best way to determine symmetry is to first measure your face's 3 points using "the golden ratio" from then on things like brow bone shape, personal preferences, etc.. help determine the right shape for you. As for color, we take into consideration your skin tone, hair color, brow hair color, undertones, etc...

Q: What can i do to prep before my procedure?

Keep the skin healthy and moisturized! Do not drink or take any blood thinners 24-48 hours before appointment. This can cause excessive bleeding which can lead to loss of pigment. Not wearing any eye makeup is recommended the day of procedure. No waxing 48 hours before procedure, and no facials 7-10 days before procedure.

Q: Can i still get Microblading even though my skin is oily?

Yes, but be mindful that it will fade faster and lines will blur out more through time.

Q: What can't I do after my procedure?

For 7-10 days..

  • Do not immerse them in water

  • Do not go to the beach or pool

  • Do not expose them to sunlight

  • No sweating (only light workouts)

  • Do not pick at the scabs

  • Do not touch them with unclean hands (its best not to touch them with your hands period)

  • apply healing ointment 1-2 times a day as needed.
